Michael Carlson and Gail Stein are two of 15 statewide elementary teachers selected to participate in the Japan Study Tour sponsored by the Program for Teaching East Asia at the University of Colorado and funded by the Freeman Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education.

While there, they will learn to teach Japanese culture and history through children's literature.  They will be attending seminars, visiting elementary schools, and touring sites of historical importance to Japan.  The cities they will visit include Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Okayama, Yamagata, and Yokohama.  They will also spend a few days living with Japanese host families.
