Public Comments
Lorie Aksamit, Englewood Educators' Vice President, read a resolution informing the Board that Englewood Educators would not sign the memorandum of understanding to participate in the Race to the Top program.

Race to the Top
Race to the Top is a federal program, offered to the states, that would provide funds to school districts that make significant educational reforms designed to improve student achievement. Mr. McDaniel explained that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) would keep the district in the discussions with the Colorado Department of Education and keep the option to participate available to Englewood. Mr. McDaniel would like to keep the possibility of receiving federal funds open while the exact requirements of the program are learned. The MOU will in no way require the district to participate. Afer the State receives funds for the Race to the Top program, districts would have 90 days to make a final determination to participate or not. The Board approved and signed the memorandum of understanding. Mr. Gorsky, President of the Board, assured that the board and administrators would carefully consider every aspect of the Race to the Top Program and only participate if it would be a good program for Englewood.

Superintendent Resignation
The Board Members expressed their regrets that Mr. McDaniel was resigning. The Board accepted Mr. McDaniel's official resignation.

CASB Search Services
Mr. Bob Cito from Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) outlined the process and services CASB would provide to help with the search for the next superintendent.

Superintendent Search Process
The Board approved using Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) to assist the district in the superintendent search process.
